Operations Manager I - Environmental - Fort Wayne, IN

I am currently collaborating with one of the leading providers of testing, inspection and certification services globally. They are working on expanding their team in Fort Wayne, IN and are on the lookout for great talent.

The perfect candidate will not only be a strong leader but also will be able to hold responsibility over budget and forecasts, costs and profit, and will be commercially astute. We are on the lookout for someone who has experience with understanding environmental chemistry and environmental analysis, with a lab work background. With a strategic mindset and proficient in leading a diverse team in a demanding environment, you will possess excellent communication skills and technical ability/knowledge.

This role reports into the general manager.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure safety and quality standards within safety and QA programs
• Lead and support a team of approximately 40 employees
• Spearhead initiatives to promote a culture of safety first
• Direct daily activities to meet production goals and customer expectations
• Provide deep knowledge of testing services
• Communicate effectively with direct and indirect reports
• Contribute to lab's strategic direction and prioritize resource allocation

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in a science or technical-related discipline
• 5 to 10 years of experience in environmental testing
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Technical competency in operating testing equipment
• Proficiency in computer skills and basic mathematical concepts
• Proven track record of success in technical competency
